Dark purple/black smokey eye and blending tips!

Hi loves! ūüėÄ

I’m back again with another post!! I am making sure to give you lovelies enough¬†makeup/beauty fun to last as I am going to be pretty busy for the next little while.

I was recently accepted into a Medical Aesthetics program to become certified to¬†provide non-invasive medical treatments for cosmetic purposes (You must be a doctor or nurse to apply). Such¬†treatments include Botox, chemical and facial peels, fillers and lasers etc. I am actually VERY excited to start, as this is combining my love for beauty and skin care with¬†my nursing career! ūüôā I want nothing more than to make people feel and look the best that they have ever felt! ūüėÄ

This is the dark purple/black smokey eye I created the other day:

I’ve always loved the look of a super black smokey lid with a lighter color blended in the crease…especially purples and pinks! When I was younger, I used to just slap on a bunch of black eyeshadow all over my lids and call it a night LOL I never, ever¬†blended anything in and never used any transition colors. I’ve definitely learned that applying a few transition colors such as a lighter brown or nude helps make the black shadow flawless and easier to blend. You never want to apply a dark shadow on your lid without a base nude or lighter color underneath. So what I did for this look was…

  • First apply a wash of a nude/beige color (Fresh) from the lid to the brow bone with a fluffy brush.
  • Then I added a light brown color (Bengal) into the crease with the same brush…
  • Wet a small flat brush and pat in the black shadow (Noir) then pack it on the lid (a wet brush gives more vibrant color)
  • I then used the¬†fluffy brush to¬†blend, blend, blend¬†out the black harsh lines with the¬†purplish color (Sangria)

I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna palette for this look. I really love Anastasia products…she does a wonderful job! These eyeshadows are SUPER pigmented and the black one (Noir) is no joke…it is literally the blackest most pigmented shadow I’ve ever used. You barely need to dip your brush in, it’s amazing. ***This palette is currently not available but ALL of the eyeshadows are being released as singles next month! I would HIGHLY suggest getting your paws on “Noir” as a single must-have black eyeshadow***
